Well, I’ve re-designed the sillycar arcade section of my site again… even though I’ve never come close to finishing it… I think the new re-design is not quite as nice as the old, but it will be easier to navigate and easier for me to update faster… we’ll see eh?

Today I added a page to the arcade section of the SillyCar Arcade website. Just click on the ARCADE link or click here to check it out. The page is not complete yet, but it is a start in showing the progression of the SillyCar Arcade Machine!
Today I added Exidy’s Mouse Trap™ to the ColecoVision™ section of my games list. This is the first game (of hopefully many) that Grace and I did together. We played it for a while and she wrote the review and did some of the photoshop work on the graphics for me! I’m so happy to be able to have her share this project with me. She did say, however, that she does not want to do anymore photoshop work, just the playing and review writing, so I won’t push her. I’m just happy we can do this together.

Universal's Lady Bug™ for ColecoVision™
Today I finished adding Universal’s Lady Bug™ for ColecoVision™ to the games list. I never played this game in the arcades, or heard of it for that matter, until I played it in ColecoVision™ form at my cousins’ house (the Kiegle’s). (I have since played the arcade version in emulation and I think it is one of the best arcade games of it’s day.) I have very fond memories of playing the ColecoVision™ version of this game as well as Exidy’s Venture™ and Bally/Midway’s Omega Race™ at the Kiegle’s house. These were three games that my brother and I never had for ColecoVision™ when we were kids. I have since acquired the three games from Pat Ingram’s attic (with permission from Bonnie of course… she was going to throw them out! Yikes!). I still enjoy playing the ColecoVision™ versions today (I use an emulator on my PowerMac G5 so that I don’t have to put wear and tear on my aging ColecoVision™ systems). Anyway, I will be adding Omega Race™ and Venture™ to the list soon… I have only the cartridges for these three games… if anyone would like to donate a complete version of any of these games (or sell them at a reasonable price) please send an email to arcade@sillycar.com and let me know. I am also thinking of starting a most wanted list category on this news feed soon… enjoy!

Donkey Kong Jr. for ColecoVision™
Today I added several screenshots to the ColecoVision™ section of the arcade site. The Donkey Kong Jr. screenshot shown here is an extra that I didn’t end up using (click on the image to visit my Donkey Kong Jr. for ColecoVision™ page), so I put it here. I downloaded a new coleco emulator called Mugrat for Mac OSX that has allowed me to make some screenshots of my games. Check it out at bannister.org. There are several other emulators there too. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Richard Bannister for his hard work and dedication that allows people like me to relive the past on modern equipment without taking a chance on breaking my classic hardware!
Today, I have just added Gorf™ by Bally/Midway for the ColecoVision™ to my games page!

Hi there. For those of you who don’t know, I have started an arcade section of my website which will eventually include descriptions and photos of my entire video game collection as well as my home brew arcade machine project. It has been in development for a few years now and I have recently gotten back to it. One of the issues I recently uncovered is that the newest versions of all the popular web browsers were no longer playing the sound effects that I had created using Flash and Javascript, so I had to come up with a solution to fix this problem. My answer was going to be to rebuild all of the buttons in flash (which would have been a nightmare, just because of the time involved… with 2 kids, time is precious) but then I discovered a plug in for Adobe Dreamweaver that uses javascript to play mp3 files, so I got that and it seems to be working for now… I have fixed the games list page and the individual game pages, but I have not yet fixed the home page. Anyway, I will post games that have been added to the site in this section of the SillyCar News feed to keep all of the thousands of you who are interested in my site up to date
